High Performance Textiles - Checkmate & Quilty
Every Herman Miller textile exceeds the Association for Contract Textiles (ACT) standard for heavy duty use. High performance textiles have some additional performance attributes that distinguish them further, including cleanability, bacteria resistance, moisture resistance, impermeability, and breathability. Our newest high performance textiles are Checkmate, a price category 3 seating textile available in 13 colors, and Quilty, for systems and seating application with 13 colors in price category 4.
Chrome-free Leather
Our new proprietary leather is chrome-free, eliminating chromium (a toxic substance) from the tanning process, yet retains softness and wear resistance. Leather is in price category 9 and available in 11 colorways.
Embody Chair - Balance
Balance fabric was created especially for the Embody Chair and is available in a variety of colors. Visit the Materials Library to view Balance.
Preserve Veneer Finish
Preserve is a water-based finish for our wood and recut veneers that replaces the solvent-based finish, and eliminates volatile organic compounds (VOC's) during manufacturing. It cures using air and ultraviolet (UV) lamps which cuts drying time and saves energy over oven curing. Preserve provides a smooth finish with rich luster compatible in appearance to Geiger finishes.
